Importance of Rest

How to Really Rest
Rest is an important part of our training too.

Some people like to think weightlifting is about going 100 miles per/hour at all times. Really Rest is something that everyone needs to incorporate into their workout regime. It’s a huge player in muscle growth because believe it or not our muscles need a break form all the lifting and work we put them through. Some reasons why rest is super important to incorporate are listed below:

  1. Reduces Risk of Injury
    • Rest is essential to keeping you body safe. When you are constantly exerting your muscles through strenuous workouts they need to be properly rested for a day or so to regain their strength and doing this will even make the muscles and bones stronger so that the risk of injury is reduced
  2. Prevents Muscle Fatigue
    • When we exert our muscles in work outs we use up the energy we have stored in them and deplete their glycogen levels. Rest restores these levels and nurses the muscles energy back to full strength.
  3. Rest Improves Performance
    • When you get little or not enough rest it can hinder your performance in the weightroom or in your sporting activity. Let yourself haver time for recovery, when someone over trains their muscles they can actually experience lower levels of motivation and endurance, and even poor reaction time and agility.
